California 2010 Day 6

The fog broke and Becky flew us over the Carrizo Plain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrizo_Plain) and the fine town of Taft on the way to Visalia. Soda Lake is at the north end of the plain and the San Andreas fault runs the length of the valley on it's eastern side.

After crossing the coastal mountains (sure ain't ANYTHING like the Oregon Coast Range!!). We felt the heat of the Valley seep in through the many cracks and pores of the 31 year old Cessna. Looking at the outside air temperature indicator, I saw that it was 68 degrees at 7,500ft. Perfect! Soon, we'd be descending into 90 degrees. Looking down, we saw fields of oil pumping stations and a processing plant. Then, a prison followed by a golf course.

Ahead of us the Sierra Nevada mountains peeked out above the valley smog.

Soon, the runway at Visalia was before us; Becky flew us gracefully down the old long military runway until she was ready to land.

of course prisons and golf courses are a perfect match when it comes to geographical location. this is logical. haha!
