California 2010 Day 5

Today was an educational day. We drove the 40 miles north on Hwy 101 to the town of Templeton where we jumped off the freeway and headed west. There must be 200 vineyards scattered across the hills around Paso Robles. Little ones producing a few thousand cases of wine each year and big ones producing 10's of thousands of cases. Lots of the wineries have "clubs" where they sell the wine at a discount as long as you purchase a few bottles a year. One of the smaller ones we visited relies on selling their wine mostly to their members. The pics below are somewhat random. What struck me most was some of the beautiful homes that this little piece of fruit has provided to the owners. Some of the vines were over 100 years old!

PS: The Hot Tub was fantastic this evening! The sky was filled with stars as the fog rolled in above us.
