California 2010 Day 1 & 2

We left Saturday morning (yesterday) at 8:45 for San Luis Obispo, with a stop in Redding for fuel and food. No turbulence, and, a tail wind the entire way! It was encouraging to see Shasta Lake so full. We like Redding because of an excellent restaurant in the main terminal known as Peter Chu's Skyroom. The food is excellent and the price is right. We can never eat it all, so it ends up traveling the rest of the way with us!

We landed with a stiff headwind (19kts)at San Luis Obispo and were escorted to a parking spot. Our rental car was delivered to us at the plane. Wow. To quote a friend of mine, they "must've thought" we "were somebody else". Well, at least they liked whoever they thought we were!

Today we drove out to Oso Flaco. It's a little state park and game preserve on the beach south of Arroyo Grande. After parking your car, you walk down a tree-covered gravel lane, then on a suspended boardwalk across a small lake where Swallows and Terns are tearing up the sky. Then, the trail leads through the rolling low dunes to the beach. Walking up the beach, we found a place to sit and eat some ribs we picked up at a local grocery store. What a relaxing day!
